PBIS

Castro Elementary School students and teachers follow the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) model. This model recognizes those students who are always working hard and do the right thing.

PBIS at Castro

Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) is an important part of our Castro community. Teachers and staff work together to create a classroom climate that encourages excellent student behavior and promotes positive interactions between students and between students and staff. All students participate in the PAWS program, where students are “caught” displaying any of our four Castro core values, Practice Trust, Accept Responsibility, Work Hard and Show Respect. When a student is “caught”, they are given a blue “PAWS” ticket to reinforce these behaviors. These tickets are put into a weekly drawing for special prizes. At the end of each month, all the “PAWS” tickets are placed into a drawing for a special black uniform PAWS t-shirt. Please check out our PAWS board outside of the Library to see our current PAWS winners, and our past winners. Check out our Castro PBIS Matrix, featuring photos of Castro students displaying our PAWS core values.  Talk to your children about our Castro core values. Help support their learning by encouraging them to practice these excellent behaviors at school and at home.
